Catalina Island is greatly known for its terrifically yielding waters year round. When fishing around Catalina Island you can look forward to catching exceptionally sized White Sea bass, Yellowtail, Calico Bass, Sheepshead, Halibut and Rockfish and many other varieties of game fish that can tip the scale at over 40 pounds. March through July are the best time to fish Catalina for White Sea Bass although the island offers an assortment of delicious fish to catch through out the seasons.
The trip to Catalina itself has been known to create extraordinary and unforgettable moments. Whale sightings are common on the voyage to Catalina any time of the year. Playful pods of dolphins are also typical while on route to Catalina and can travel in pods of hundreds. One of the rarest but most spectacular sightings around Catalina would be the Bald Eagle. These beautiful creatures can actually be enticed to swoop down to eye level by simply throwing some bait over board into the waters.
